Sea Turtles
Six
species of sea turtles exist in the United States. Some are found in
Mexico Beach! They can be up to 8’ long, and weigh 150 to 2,000 pounds.
Sea turtles breathe air, are cold blooded, and the lady turtles lay eggs
on land. They make their nests between May and October. In Mexico Beach,
sea turtle nests may be marked with stakes and caution tape. Please do not
disturb, touch or take flash photography of sea turtles or their
nests. Leave no waste products on the beach, as any debris ingested by sea
turtles can be fatal.
